How does the matching process work?

After the event, log in to your It’s a Date account and select Dashboard from your profile menu. Locate your event in the My Events section and click Send Matches. This will display a list of the attendees you met during the event. If you have questions about missing guests or see guests listed who did not attend, please refer to our FAQs.

From the list of attendees, you can select and submit one of three options:

It’s a Match – You’d like to stay in touch with this guest as a potential relationship interest.
Friend Zone – You’d like to connect, but only in a platonic way.
Not Compatible – You didn’t feel a connection and prefer not to reconnect.

When you submit an It’s a Match or Friend Zone request, the recipient will receive an email notification alerting them to your pending request. They can choose to accept or decline. If they accept, you’ll receive an email confirming the new connection, and a Message button will appear next to their name in the relevant folder—It’s a Match or Friend Zone.

Guests do not receive notifications for Not Compatible selections, and you will not be notified if a match request is declined.

Email notifications are only sent to inform guests of new match requests and accepted matches. We do not send email alerts for new messages within the chat feature following a successful match.
